Tired of overheated car ? Now find good range of radiators at Partsavatar.com

Is steam pouring from under your hood and radiator is showing signs of replacement?? Check out for best quality radiators at Parts avatar.

car Radiator works as a cooler for the car. Its basic function is to transfer heat from the hot coolant to the air blown to it by the fan. If the temperature is rising in temperature gauge, the temperature light on the dashboard is glowing bright and steam is pouring from under your hood, then you first check your car’s radiator. When the engine is overheating, it should be shut down immediately to prevent further damage. Parts avatar is offering good quality radiators at affordable prices.

Inside the radiator there is a transmission cooler. Its oil exchanges heat with the coolant. Next in the car radiator cap, the boiling point of the coolant increases to a certain level and pressure built by fluid in the cooling system escapes out of it. This coolant flows through overflow tube in the bottom of overflow tank. This process keeps the air out of system. When the heat is absorbed by the radiator then the coolant is circulated back to the engine.

Overheated engine can damage a car’s valves, camshafts, piston and cylinder heads along with radiator. Radiator is the main and most important component of car’s cooling system.

SYMPTOMS OF A FAILING RADIATOR

You are advised to keep in mind symptoms of failing radiator before overheating causes serious damages to your car other components too.

LEAKY RADIATOR

Accidents may cause severe damage to the radiators, so they should be inspected thoroughly for this. Inspect your radiator at least a week for leakage. Stones or rocks on the road may cause the radiator to leak. The circulation of coolant is done through radiator so in case of leakage coolant will leak onto the floor.

Coolant loss would lead to engine overheating. If the leak is noticeable, have it repaired immediately. If even after repair, the leak is still persistent, you may need to replace radiator.
Radiators should be filled with appropriate amount of coolant of car and distilled water. Proper level should be maintained to avoid overheating.

OVERHEATING OF VEHICLE

Overheated vehicle may damage radiator severely. Causes of overheating could be low level of coolant, broken hoses resulting in coolant leak, malfunctioning auxiliary fans or contaminated radiator. The vehicle should be repaired as soon as you notice the overheating. If you are stranded somewhere then carefully park the car in a safe place and pop open the hood to allow the engine to cool down. Check if the auxiliary fans, hoses are in good condition. A bluish fluid leak could indicate a broken hose. Get it checked from professional if the leaking persists.

RUSTY FLUID IN RADIATOR

The coolant should be clear and generally of yellow or green color. Brownish fluid means excessive rust inside the coolant. Radiator caps and internal parts are also susceptible to rust. Have the radiator checked if excessive amount of rust is present. As the fluid in the coolant gets contaminated, it will not drain properly and hence will not be able to cool down the engine efficiently. This can cause extensive damage to engine and other components. So before the situation goes out of hand, get it repaired.

You can also prevent rusting by using high quality antifreeze and coolant for your engine. Make sure to use distilled water instead of tap or mineral water. This is because, there are certain minerals present in tap/mineral water that do not dissolve in the fluid mixture. So an adequate ration i.e. 50/50 ratio of coolant and water should be added for good transmission. It is best to flush the radiator once a year to prevent rusting and engine overheating issues.

REPLACING A RADIATOR
Make sure the car is in neutral or park before you start the work.

FLUSH THE COOLING SYSTEM

Remove the pressure cap from the radiator or coolant reservoir and let the pressure ventilate out of the engine. Remove the clamps at both ends of the lower automotive radiator hose and upper automotive radiator hose. Place a bucket underneath while draining the liquid off the petcock. If your coolant seems contaminated, now is the right time to flush your coolant.

DISCONNECTING THE RADIATOR

Disconnect the fan motor electrical connector, transmission fuel cooler and air conditioner condenser and remove the bolts from mounting brackets. There should be no hoses or electric connectors and there should be sufficient space for radiator to be removed. Now before recycling the radiator, look for the parts that need to be transferred over to new radiator.

INSTALLING NEW RADIATOR

Any part that were removed from old radiator like fan shroud or brackets need to be installed in the new radiator. Insert the radiator into the car. You need to be careful while installing it. Now connect the mounting brackets to secure the radiator in the engine bay. Secure the air conditioning condenser into the radiator with the help of wrench. Plug in the wiring harness to restore power to electric fan. Now connect the transmission coolant lines and upper and lower radiator hoses to the reservoir.

REFILLING THE COOLING SYSTEM

Get a good quality coolant recommended in owner's manual. Now dilute the coolant with distilled water. It should be in 50/50 ratio of water and coolant. Pour directly into the radiator until you see the fluid near the top and fill reservoir tank to the cold fill line. Bleed the air pockets out of the cooling system. The last step is to reinstall the radiator cap. With this you close off your system and allow it to build the pressure. Hence the radiator installation is done successfully. It is good to inspect the radiator condition frequently. you can also purchase aftermarket best brand radiators at Partsavatar.
