Keep your truck moving in hot summers with tips outlined by PartsAvatar Performance Car Parts online!!

Keep your truck cool in hot summers with the tips and maintain car parts online at PartsAvatar Auto Body Parts Canada.

Are you ready to unleash the beauty of summer with your truck? But for that, certain checks are needed to be done on your truck before you head out to ensure that you truck is working perfectly well. Enhance your truck by fixing scheduled maintenance.

Buy car replacement parts at PartsAvatar and get its old performance back by enhancing car engine parts at low costs.
Help yourself drive comfortably in hot summer with these few ways that we suggest you.

Check the tires
Were you thinking of going out in hot summer without checking proper pressure of your truck tire? Underinflated tires burst in hot summer quickly making your journey more miserable on road. Make sure to check the tire pressure before getting on the road.

Under inflated tires not only make you stall at road but also they impact tire’s wear pattern. They make your truck’s tire wear inappropriately and you must remember how much fortune you are going to spend when we are talking about replacement tires.

Tinted windows
Although window shades are helpful when your truck is parked, they cannot be used while driving. They are a great solution for keeping your truck’s interior cool when the vehicle is in motion.

Tinted windows allow the light to pass through so that you can see, but it also bounces some off, which should help reduce temperature of your truck’s interior.

Car air conditioner
Without car a/c, were you trying to sneak off in summer? Believe me, truck driving wont be that good experience for you in such hot climate.

The owner’s manual will let you know how often you should replace your cabin air filter that cleans the air before it enters the air conditioning system.

Check the working of air conditioner. Is it working fine? Are the vents blowing cool air? The blower is working fine or not? You must check the overall condition of your truck’s air conditioner and get the related auto parts of truck’s cooling depot replaced before the summer arrives.

Truck battery
There is no convenient season for the truck batteries. They can go dead anytime depending upon the usage. You know truck batteries not only power engine but they also supply power for the electrical system of Truck.

You can help provide your truck battery some longevity by checking daily its condition by scraping away the corrosion, cleaning the surface, checking its placing and re tighten the connections.
Make sure to keep your truck from cold starts by placing a fully charged battery in it.

Automotive lighting

Mostly we have truckers who get on the road at night. They need to be extremely careful of the night time so for that the maintenance of the automotive lightings becomes way too necessary.
Truck headlights, hazard lights, tail lights, brake lights must be in good working condition because wherever and whenever you go, you will definitely need their help. In that case, you need to check your truck lights, clean them, check their working.

It becomes sometimes illegal to drive with inappropriately working automotive lightings. So, don’t welcome unwanted fines because of your little ignorance. PartsAvatar has wide range of automotive lightings; take a look at our comprehensive catalogue.

Top up the coolant
Never let the engine strive for coolant. Coolant plays important role in maintaining the overall temperature of the engine. It keeps your truck’s engine from running hotter than it should, and you could have problems like overheating of engine, engine misfiring or engine starting issues if the temperature rises beyond necessary.

Never let the coolant level go too low. When the truck’s air conditioning is also working in such hot weather, it is immensely pressurizing for the engine to work which definitely increases its temperature. Always top your truck’s coolant and never let it strive for it.

Keep your interior cool
In high temperature it is common for the truck’s window panes or windshield to crack. Crack your window an inch to let the hot air escape.

This is very much important if you plan to park your truck somewhere that provides very little shade. You might also want to tweak your vent settings. It is a good idea to set your climate control to push fresh air through the vents as the temperature rises.
You can also take help of ice packs to achieve cool air out of vents in case you have some!

What are Anti Lock Braking Systems? Will they help me brake faster or safer??PartsAvatar simplifies this for you!

Do you know what ABS stands for in a car? Take a look at some facts about ABS Brakes. –by Partsavatar Auto Parts.

Introduction of AntiLock Brake system of car was one of best decision taken by auto makers for driver’s safety. Though many of us think that ABS Is 21 century innovation, but no, they have been around since 1950s introduced in Europe. ABS was first developed for aircrafts in 1929. Jensen Ferguson Formula, a four wheel drive car unveiled ABS in 1966 as the first building step towards the evolution of ABS.

ABS is now fitted in every new car and is used to stabilize the car while cornering and as a crude aid to traction.Let us know some important facts and uses of ABS other than braking.

What is ABS?
The ABS is a four wheel system that prevents wheel lock up by automatically modulating the brake pressure during an emergency stop. Under most conditions, it enables the driver to maintain control of the steering wheel and maintain certain distance with its immediate vehicle by preventing the wheels from locking. During normal ride, when you apply brakes, you will feel no difference in ABS or Non ABS brakes. But during any condition that requires interference of ABS brakes, a certain pulsation can be felt in the brake pedal accompanied by fall and rise in the brake pedal along with clicking noise.
This advanced driving technique is useful on non ABS cars, as the driver exerts pressure on the brake pedal to regain steering control while providing maximum braking. Vehicles with ABS are equipped with dual brake system. The main components of ABS are:
·        Hydraulic control unit
·        Anti lock brake control module

How does ABS work?

ABS uses sensors which are connected via car's ABS connectors to detect when one wheel is rotating at different rate than other. If the sensor notices that wheel is turning more slowly while braking, then it’s a sign that the wheel is probably locked or is about to get locked. The system thus reduces the brake pressure accordingly by activating a relief valve, until that pressure is equal with the other wheels.

If the wheel begins to lock again, the process is repeated in the same way as pumping the brake pedal pad of car.
However if the brake pressure is momentarily released the brakes are freed and tires can revolve again. The intervention of ABS happens many times. By releasing and reapplying the brakes, the car’s ABS prevents it from going into a brake induced skid.

Does ABS help be Brake Faster?

It is not the job of ABS to make you stop faster. But ABS’s job is to allow the driver to maintain the control of car under hard braking conditions.
ABS will either lock the four wheels to prevent the car from skidding or it will allow you to continue to steer the car helping you to avoid the object that is causing you to apply brake so hard.

ABS as Traction Control
In most situations especially in a low friction environment we often use traction control feature in our car to gain easy traction. Traction control in cars monitor wheel speed using ABS wheel speed sensors. In severe cases traction control can also apply brakes to the slipping wheel. For example,Modern Range rover uses in built anti lock braking system to restore the traction and grip of the slipping wheel by applying brake.

ABS in Side winds
Most modern auto vehicles are immune to deceptive effects of cross winds on highways or fast roads. But, in windy conditions Lorries, vans and other high sided vehicles drive the best as the bulk sails effectively in winds. But in extreme circumstances like cyclonic winds, they can be blown over but even a moderate breeze can blow them over with major road hazards.

Mercedes Benz uses the ABS fitted to its vans to control this movement by impartially applying the brakes to wheel to help steady it and stop the lateral movements due to strong winds.
So ABS can be helpful in disastrous conditions.

ABS can help in quick cornering
Now you can take turn at corners more safely by using ABS. keeping in mind the safe cornering , car manufacturers advise using car’s ABS as Traction control and chassis stability aid in such situation.

The car gently applies brakes on one or more wheels when it detects the danger of losing control on the corner. This effect can be straightforward or dramatic.

For example if you want to take a left turn on a corner, you can feel the left hand rear brake grabbing to help you steer into the left hand turn more easily. Sports car like McLaren use this principle of lightly applying brake on inside rear wheel to help kill under steer and provide sharper turn in.

Self Braking Using ABS
The emergence of self braking system is increasing in modern cars. In terms of safety it is great. The system links radar or forward facing camera to the car’s braking system. This system will alert you in case its camera detects a stationary or slow moving object in front of your car. If you do not apply brakes, the ABS will take the charge and the brakes will be applied judicially before any collision can happen.

It’s very good safety feature in cars as sometimes, we are so distracted on the road due to certain reasons that there are chances of head on collision with other immediate vehicle. Or even if you are conscious on road, you can’t guarantee if the other drivers are conscious as much as you are. So, you can ensure your safety even if you are spacing out while driving by deploying this collision avoidance system in car.

ABS Issues
If you are driving on loose surfaces like mud, dirt or snow ABS will become confused and the stopping distance will extend due to interference of ABS. that is why many off roaders prefer cars equipped with special off road mode so that effect of ABS can be reduced or in some cases eliminated.

Common problems with ABS can be damaged sensors and blocked released valves. The orange light on your dashboard will start illuminating if the ABS goes faulty.
In this situation don’t panic. You can still apply brakes normally. Check your brake fluid level in the reservoir. If still the light comes on, then for the sake of your safety, visit a professional.

Hope this article will help you give enough information about ABS and its benefits.

Is your car making wierd noise? Decipher those noises and know what they exactly mean!

Learn to troubleshoot your car problems - pay attention to the sounds coming from your car and react accordingly. – Partsavatar Replacement Car Parts.

Car is usually made noise free so that we could experience a smooth drive. Mostly you can judge that your car is in good condition when there is no weird noise coming from the car. But if you hear your car making some unexpected noise – either under the hood or in the rear of the vehicle, this probably means that your car is trying to express you its problems through these noises.

Know when your car needs maintenance by troubleshooting the noises and save your cash from expensive repairs if you ignore these noises. These noises are the first signal that some malfunctioning is going on inside. Here is a list of sounds cars make and what those mean. Let us take a look!

Screeching Brakes
Problems with brakes top my list. And why not? Safety is priority.Sometimes you may hear screeching sound when you press the brake pedal.Squealing or screeching can be heard when you have worn brake pads.Screech can also be heard if the tires are wet and they also disappear once the surface dries. However, if the screeching noise persists, that means it is time to replace brake pads of your car. Grinding noises also indicate worn brake pads but sometimes it is the sound of metal scraping against metal which means brake calipers of car have gone wrong.

Thumping sounds can be heard when you have rusted brake rotors. So it is better to visit a certified professional and get auto brake rotors replaced if necessary. Brakes need attention. If they fail to work properly, your safety is at risk on road.
So, keep them in better condition by providing them with proper maintenance and replacement timely.

Car jerking and Popping sound in engine

Faulty spark plugs often cause popping sounds in engine.Worn, dirty spark plugs can cause the car to jerk at certain intervals along with the noise.Spark plugs are directly related to the ignition system of your car. You can buy spark plugs of car at affordable prices from any online aftermarket auto store and the good news is it is also a DIY thing to do. So, you can save the money you had to pay as labor cost.

You may notice that if there was probably a problem with spark plugs, then there would be no popping sound after replacing them. But if the sound can still be heard, then visit your mechanic.

Don’t worry! Replacing spark plugs is not a bad thing to do.

Whirring sound under the car
There are several causes that can cause whirring noise. If the vehicle is pulling to one side while drive along with the sound, there are chances that the wheel bearing of car is shot in one or more tires. Another causes include- need of lubrication, automotive U joints replacement and faulty transmission.

So, as soon as you hear this noise, take your car to your mechanic and let him decipher the noise for you by doing thorough inspection underneath.

Rattling beneath the car
It is quite hard to tell what a sound coming from underneath of a car means. Underneath of a car is quite complex system and may have different causes. But rattling is not hard to decipher. Generally, in each case, rattling means that there is something loose beneath the vehicle- exhaust pipe of car.

Anything that is hanging beneath your car can be easily identified. If you find exhaust pipes loosened then you can easily tighten them using screw drivers. Do not ignore this sound further, as the exhaust pipe may get damaged by getting scraped along the ground or in the worst case it may just fall off. Exhaust pipe repairs are quite expensive so watch out.

Flapping Noise
Broken fan belt in the car engine may produce these noises. Pay attention to the flapping sound and get the fan belts repaired and replaced immediately as any delay can cause the engine to overheat. This is because the fan belt help keep the engine cool.Engine Overheating will result in expensive repairs. So avoid overheating and follow preventive measures to be taken when the engine overheats.

Comparing the repairs, fan belts are quite inexpensive as compared to other parts. So do not ignore them and get them replaced timely.

Hissing sound under the hood
Don’t get scared when you hear hissing sound. There is no snake nearby. Hissing indicates that there is some leakage in the engine and liquid is falling on engine parts, thus creating hissing sound. There might be leakage of fluids like Automatic transmission fluids and automotive coolant. Loss of cooling agents would definitely cause overheating and ultimately damage to the engine.

Alternatively, you can check underneath your car for black, red or green fluid pooling on the ground. Get your driveway checked immediately by a certified mechanic.

Loud Banging Noise
If you notice black smoke coming from exhaust pipes and hear a banging noise like that of a gunshot when you start your car, then there might be chances of car's engine backfiring and malfunctioning catalytic converter.

Auto Catalytic converters are quite expensiveto repair and replace. It’s not a good sign though. So, if you notice any problem with catalytic converters, then get them repaired from very start as future repairs are quite expensive.

Knocking in the engine
Always use high quality gasoline in your car. Knocking sound is often produced when there is low quality gasoline used in the car. Low grade gasoline ruins the spark plug which leads to piston moving erratically and ultimately a knocking sound is produced.

Don’t worry. Once you fill your vehicle with high quality or manufacturer recommended gasoline, the knocking sound would disappear. Just go through your car’s owner’s manual and buy the gasoline that is equivalent to those standards.
There is also no need to waste your money on mechanic for inspection. Just do it yourself and the problem is solved.

Clicking sound beneath the hood
Clicking sound is often caused due to low oil level of engine. Add the oil and keep the engine properly lubricated for better performance.

If still the clicking sound persists, there may be chances that oil pressure is less somewhere and something is hindering the circulation of oil properly. Lastly, inspect the valve train and adjust it accordingly.

Roaring sound at high speeds
Sometimes roaring sounds can be heard when you press on the pedal and accelerate. There could be many faulty components like faulty exhaust system or transmission problems. Transmission problems are very expensive to repair.

In case manual transmission, there could be problems while switching gears as the clutch or the gear could be slipping. So whether it is exhaust or transmission problem, both are expensive to repair.

You can shop for aftermarket car's transmission parts and exhaust auto parts at Parts Avatar online parts store for cheap prices. On the ending note, just watch out for the noises and get your car repaired whenever you hear them accordingly.

Remanufactured VS New Starter

Re manufactured starters are virtually indistinguishable from new ones. Rebuilt ones generally have high degree of reused components. As we have choice, we are often confused. The major thing is make and model of your car. If the product is not up to your car’s specifications, then it is just waste of money. Lets us read about pros and cons of re-manufactured and new starters.

Remanufactured
We are often suggested by our mechanic to buy a new starter. But remanufactured starter motors are built for extreme heat and cold. Remanufactured starter manufacturers often say that remanufactured products are indistinguishable from the new ones.
Basically when the remanufactured, the worn out internal components are replaced.Auto parts companies remanufacture the starters keeping in mind that the end product of this remanufacturing process should meet all the specifications of new unit. Many aftermarket auto part stores offer car's remanufactured starters at lucrative prices. So based on your vehicle’s specification, you can replace them with remanufactured starters.

Pros
1. As it has undergone major replacement and teardown of damaged components with the new ones, they offer same warranty as the new starters.
2. Even though remanufacturing is the job of third party companies, but some OE suppliers have also stepped in this process.
3. As they meet the standards and specifications of the new one, so they can be expected to last as long as the new starter.
4. Remanufactured starters provide optimum starting performance of the engine.
5. Each unit is remanufactured using the highest quality material and advanced technology.
6. Every component is 100% factory tested prior to remanufacturing to ensure that it meets the standards of the new one.
7. Their cost is quite cheap as compared to the original or new starter.
8. Sometimes for old cars or trucks, the remanufactured parts are the only option as the new products are not available of that standard. So in this case, remanufactured starters can be used easily.

Cons
1. One of the major cons of the remanufactured starters is its warranty. The warranty will not be as good as the new one offer. But, warranty is not an issue if you buy the remanufactured starter from a trusted store and it works properly.
2. You may not know if the product is tested according to original specifications. It is advised to make sure the manufacturer had tested the product before shipping.

New Starters
Mostly, when there is any issue with our car’s starter we often think to replace it with the new car starter.Though the end result of both new and remanufactured starter is the same, but the thing matters is the trusted brand and warranty they offer. So, there are some pros and cons of the new starters.

Pros
1.The major benefit of buying a new starter is the warranty and guarantee offered by the manufacturer. New starters often exceed the OE part installed by the vehicle manufacturer.
2. The specifications perfectly match with the make, model and design of your vehicle, so you need not worry about the standards.

Cons
The major con of new starters is there price is high as compared to the re-manufactured starters.

Ending note
Rebuilt starters may or may not meet the standards of original ones. So, it should be checked if they are properly tested before installing rebuilt starters.
Between Re-manufactured and New starter, the choice is yours. You can buy new starter because you see the trust and warranty of their product or you can opt for re-manufactured one if you prefer product reliability and value. As long as the starter fits your vehicle’s specifications and performs properly, cost does not matter. But the choice can be made wisely, as there is not much difference between both.

Partsavatar hopes that this guide will help of choose the starter easily. You can shop for other aftermarket or replacement auto products or accessories here at cheap prices. Get the benefit of free shipping for shopping over $99.

Save your atmosphere from pollution of car’s harmful gases and Go Green with your Car.

The emergence of cars is both wonder as well as threat to existence on earth. There is hardly a day when you find a road, vehicle free. We must be saving a lot of time with the help of cars but at same time we are creating problems for our environment too. In big cities, air is way too polluted that sometimes it is hard enough to breathe. For instance in Beijing due to high traffic, sometimes smog covers the whole city and even people are advised to avoid getting out of their places. We can contribute to save our environment in many ways without going for a smart car option. In this article some tips will be shared to go green with your car and make your driving life greener.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES

There is variety of electric vehicles in the market. Some solely depend on electric charge given to battery. There are a lot of benefits with EV. There is no need for oil changes, fuel system service, muffler replacement, ignition system maintenance. If you are hoping to choose an EV then Chevrolet, Toyota and Nissan are producing high quality EVs in the market.

Plugin Hybrid vehicle uses both electric and gas/diesel. These cars use a rechargeable battery pack that runs the car up to 35 miles before the gasoline engine takes charge. In some cars, gasoline not only runs the engine but at the same time charging the battery. A plug in hybrid is only limited by its range of Gas tank. The Toyota Prius, Chevrolet Volt are good examples of plug ins today along with Nissan Leaf as a whole electric running vehicle.

FOLLOWING SERVICE SCHEDULE

Periodically checking engine performance, changing oil regularly, replacing air filters, checking gas caps and keeping tires inflated help reduce pollution, fuel consumption ,emissions and burn less gas. Regular auto maintenance may be a bit of bother but will definitely pay off in long run. Keeping proper level routine maintenance not only saves your bucks at garage but also saves money for gasoline.

GREEN DRIVING PRACTICES

Driving techniques contribute a lot in fuel economy of your car. A rash driving not only kills your MPG or fuel efficiency but may also get you in danger. Drive wise, void sudden starts and stops and go within the speed limits. You can also reduce your driving distance by running errands in one ride or meeting at mid distance. These techniques are called” hypermiling”. Proper driving practices can improve the eco friendliness of your car. Let’s have a look at some smart driving practices.

1. Speeding is not only dangerous but also increases carbon footprint of your car. Slowing down the speed by 10 mph increase fuel efficiency and decrease carbon dioxide output.  Ensure you drive within speed limits all the time.

2.  Keeping your car in idle state even for a minute can produce toxic emissions. For example in traffics, it is advisable to turn off the engine rather letting it stay idle.

3.  Accelerating more and then slamming the brakes to halt the car not only damages the engine but also causes brakes to wear quickly. It is advisable to anticipate the traffic pattern and to decelerate to a stop gradually.

4. You can use your car’s ECO features to optimize transmission shift points and decrease AC’s impact on the engine.

TAKE IT EASY ON THE AC

Use windows than car's air conditioning system to keep your car cool. You can also use solar fan or electric fan as substitute. Alternatively, you can switch on the AC for short period and keep the fan on for air circulation.  Air conditioning system is powered by gas, so it may affect fuel efficiency considerably thus affecting the environment adversely. Moreover it is wise to park your car in a shaded area to keep your car cool.

Car running on CNG reduces tailpipe emissions hence increasing the efficiency of the vehicle. CNG vehicles use standard piston engine. Latest generation diesel vehicles produce fewer tailpipe emissions and significantly reduce carbon dioxide output. Automobile giants are also working on making gasoline run engines more environmental friendly. For example ford’s EcoBoost engines use turbo charging technology. It uses more fuel efficient engines to provide good level of acceleration and efficiency.

RECYCLE MOTOR OIL AND RE POWER YOUR ENGINE

Recycle motor oil, fluids, batteries and other components when they are no longer in use. Take extra care while recycling to help protect the environment. You can give your vehicle a new life by rebuilding the engine. This will save your money and time for repair and make it more fuel efficient.

REMOVE ADDITIONAL WEIGHT

Added weight and air resistance causes more fuel to burn. Keeping the luggage on the roof could make your car less aerodynamic. So it is crucial to keep the load in the trunk. It is advisable to keep the load in the back and remove it as soon as the journey is complete to increase fuel efficiency.

CHECK THE TIRES

Less air pressure than specified, in your car’s tires may increase rolling resistance. Therefore the work of the engine increases as the tire goes flat. Before driving always check your tire’s pressure. Adequately inflated tires ensure road as well as environment safety.

CHECK EMISSION SYSTEM

Emission system should be checked periodically in order to ensure that the car is not polluting. A bad exhaust system often emits harmful gases as hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide. Exhaust system components like vacuums, oxygen sensors and hoses should be properly examined so as to reduce the emission of harmful gases in the air.

REDUCE NEED OF CAR

Though it is easy to say but very hard to do, but we can reduce need of the car by walking, biking, public transport, car sharing and teleconferencing. For short distances take public transit, bikes or even use electric scooters.

These practices will not only increase your car’s eco friendliness but also improve fuel efficiency. These few steps can make a bigger impact on environment. Your little efforts will contribute vastly to this global cause.
